Lois Jean Bailey, 89, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:28 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Seymour Crossing in Seymour.
Born March 7, 1936, in Napfor, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Irvin and Viola (Lewis) Campbell. She married Roy Bailey on October 4, 1957, in North Vernon; he preceded her in death April 1, 1972.
Lois was a 1954 graduate of Buckhorn High School in Buckhorn, Kentucky. She worked as a DST for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville for 11 years and had worked for the former Brooksie Leach Restaurant in North Vernon. Lois enjoyed canning, gardening, and raising children.
Survivors include her sons, Roy David (Terri) Bailey and Tom (Melissa) Bailey, both of North Vernon; her daughter, Lora (John) Young of North Vernon; brothers, Charlie (Joyce) Campbell and Donald (Peggy) Campbell, both of North Vernon; sister, Kathleen (Edward) Fields of Avawam, Kentucky; ten grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sons, Troy "TI" Bailey and Charles "Chuck" Bailey; brothers, Arthur, James and George Campbell; and sisters, Mabel Campbell, Betty Hybarger, and Ruth Downs.
A funeral service for Lois will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. The burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home in honor of Lois to the Alzheimer's Association for Research.
