Lora Ellen (Jenkins) Vanosdol

Lora Ellen Vanosdol, 61, of North Vernon, passed away at 4:43 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.

Born July 20, 1962, in Columbus, she was the daughter of the late James and Annette (Beeman) Jenkins. She married Roger Vanosdol on February 18, 1982, at the Grayford Road Church of God in Jennings County; he survives.

Lora graduated from Jennings County High School in 1980. She worked for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville from 1985 until 2005 and then went on to work for Stone Belt from 2005 until 2024. Lora was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in North Vernon. She enjoyed watch dirt track car racing, and she loved her grandchildren.

Surviving with her husband is her son, Cody (Jessie) Vanosdol of Spencer; her daughter, Tiffani Turner of North Vernon; brothers, Rusty (Carol) Jenkins and Jack Hatton, both of North Vernon; sister, Angela Jenkins of London, Kentucky; and grandchildren, Cloey (Thomas) Bennett of Scipio, Kayley Turner and Kinsley Turner, both of North Vernon, and Lynleigh Vanosdol, Haley (Jacob) Amick, Madi Amick, and Miley Amick, all of Spencer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Melinda Jenkins; and nephews, Conner Hunt and Cory Jenkins.

A funeral service for Lora will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery.
