Lowell A. Peacock, 91, passed away at 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Cumberland Trace in Plainfield.
Born May 14, 1933, in Paris Crossing, he was the son of the late Thurman and Bertha (Humphrey) Peacock. He married Velma Irean (Reece) Peacock on June 22, 1952, at Weston Baptist Church in Jennings County; she preceded him in death on January 9, 2021.
Lowell graduated from Paris Crossing High School in 1951 and had attended Hanover College. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 until 1957. Lowell worked for A & P for fifteen years and Marsh for sixteen years; he owned Just Rite Food Mart for twenty years. He enjoyed nature and loved the outdoors.
He is survived by his son, Steven (Cheryl) Peacock; his daughter, Patricia (Ronald) Wheeler; and his grandchildren, Nathan (Cindy) Wheeler, Amber (Corey) Hill, Aaron (Allyson) Peacock, Adam Wheeler, and Spencer Wheeler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brother, Maynard Peacock; and his sisters, Marie Bonesteel, Edith McIntire, Roberta "Eloise" Wilson, Marguerite Craig, and Thurmagene Cunningham.
In keeping with his and his family’s wishes, cremation is planned with no services to be held at this time. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon were entrusted to the care of these arrangements.
