Margaret Rose (Calhoun) Hanna

Margaret Rose Hanna, 74, of North Vernon passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born July 9, 1943 in Letcher County, Kentucky, Mrs. Hanna was the daughter of the late Glenn and Bernice Day Collins Calhoun. She married John R. Hanna on April 30, 1960 in North Vernon; he survives.

Mrs. Hanna was a 1960 graduate of North Vernon High School and was currently attending I.S.U. working towards Degree in Criminal Justice. She was the co-owner of Hanna’s Herbs Everlasting in North Vernon for 25 years and was owner of Shanna Styles in North Vernon for ten plus years. Mrs. Hanna enjoyed welding, horse riding, canoeing, reading and collecting dolls. Mrs. Hanna was very artistic and enjoyed doing crafts.

Surviving with her husband, John R. Hanna are sons, Tim (Darlene) Hanna of Nashville, Tennessee, John David Hanna of North Vernon, Richard Hanna of Ormand Beach, Florida and Joe (Bill Losey) Hanna of North Vernon; brothers, Glenn (Sharon) Calhoun, Monte Aaron “Mac” (Shelia) Calhoun and Mark Augustus (Shawn) Calhoun all of North Vernon; sister, Mary Elizabeth Calhoun of Aurora; grandchildren, Aaron Hanna of Fort Worth, Texas, Dustin Hanna and Dillon Hanna both of Nashville, Tennessee, Patrick Hanna,  Sasha (Alan Dunham) Hanna, Clayton Hanna, Jacob Hanna, and Katelynn Hanna all of North Vernon; Christy Jo Hanna of China, Indiana, Jagger Hanna of Ormand Beach, Florida and Mackenzie (Nicholas) Heddy of Denver, Colorado; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, John C. and Steven Ray Calhoun and sister, Judith Anderson.

A funeral service for Mrs. Hanna will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Rev. Richard Burcham officiating. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 11:00 a.m.  until time of service. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery at a later date.
