Margaret “Maggie” Marie Lucas, 80, of North Vernon, passed away at 7:25p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour.
Born March 24, 1945, in Indiana, she was the daughter of the late David Ernstes and Beatrice Vanderbur.
Maggie was a graduate of Vernon High School. She worked as a production worker for Arvins and Martinrea before retiring in 2005. Maggie previously worked at Jenn Acres, Muscatatuck Hospital, McDonalds, Jennings County School Corporation, she cleaned houses, Park & Eat in North Vernon, Oxford Industries, A&W in Omaha, Nebraska. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to casinos, and shooting skeet. Maggie was a member of Coffee Creek Conservation Club and would often attend senior citizen activities.
Survivors include husband, Richard Lucas; sons, Jeffrey Boggs of North Vernon, Matthew Scott (Jenna McGinnis) Boggs of Shelbyville, Richie (Heather) Lucas of Pittsboro, and Jason (Amanda) Lucas of Commiskey; daughter, Patty (Jr.) Vanosdol; son-in-law, Cliff Palmer of Sardinia; brothers, Bob (Georgia) Ernstes of Commiskey and Joe (Kim) Ernstes of Madison; sister, Mary (Jack) Lamaster of North Vernon; grandchildren, Stefani (Hunter) Glaze, Shelbi (Cody) Wamsley, Christopher (Ashley) Boggs, Savanna Boggs, Devin (Alyssa Thurman) Vanosdol, Scarlett Boggs, Greyson Lucas, Adalynn Lucas, Paisley Lucas, Bryce Lucas, Zack Palmer and Nikki; great-grandchildren, Kinsley Glaze, Avery Wamsley, Kaiden Boggs Dorian Boggs, Adalynn Boggs and Lilly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Douglas A. Boggs; daughter, Angi Baker Palmer; brother, Michael Ernstes; sisters, Dorthy Hoyt, Cathy Hodge, and Joann Dickinson; grandsons, Nicholas Baker, and Travis Baker.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Our Hospice of Jennings County.
The funeral service for Maggie will be at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00p.m.to 8:00p.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be at the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana.
