Margie Ann (Bear) Mackenzie

Margie Ann Mackenzie, 82, of Brownstown, passed away at 4:48 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Born July 22, 1942, in North Vernon, she was the daughter of the late Mark Wesley and Frances Pearl (Skinner) Bear. She married Thomas Mackenzie on June 25, 1997, in Vernon; he preceded her in death on April 9, 2007.

Margie worked in the packing department for Dolly Madison in Columbus, retiring in 2006 after 21 years. She had previously worked on the production line for ITT Industries in North Vernon for 20 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Moose Lodge, Eagles, and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary for Matt Hester Post #2021, all in North Vernon. Margie enjoyed going to yard sales, working in her yard, playing Bingo and she loved her cats.

Survivors include her son, Bradley Herr of North Vernon; her daughter, Julie (Larry) Wehmiller of Seymour; brother, Wesley Bear of North Vernon; sister, Martha Bear of North Vernon; grandchildren, Joey Herr and Casey Herr of North Vernon; step-grandchildren, Lucas Wehmiller of Brownstown and Crystal (Bryce) Purcell of Greenwood; and step-great-grandchildren, Letty Wehmiller and Lennox Wehmiller, both of Seymour and Paxton Purcell and Phinnley Purcell, both of Greenwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Richard Ward; second husband, Thomas Mackenzie; brother, Cecil Bear; and sister, Mary Katherine Bear.

A funeral service for Margie will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m.  until the time of the service on Wednesday. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made in honor of Margie through the funeral home to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Mercy Rescue and Adoption Inc.
