Marilyn Sue Klingner, 80, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, formerly of North Vernon, passed away at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the Tennessee State Veteran’s Home in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Born June 26, 1940, in Butlerville, she was daughter of Phillip Edward and Leona (Matlock) Chamberlin. She married Chester “Chet” Klingner on November 16, 1963 in Jennings County; he preceded her in death on June 13, 2013.
Marilyn worked at the Park Theatre Civic Centre, was a welder at the Ford Plant in North Vernon, North Vernon Drive In, Western Union and Bob’s Jewelry Store, Style Shop, Tom and Shirley’s Café, Tower Supermarket, PNC Bank and was a teacher’s aid at the North Vernon Junior High and Hayden Elementary School. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in North Vernon and was a former member of First Baptist Church in North Vernon, North Vernon Chapter 183, Order of the Eastern Star, Women’s Business and Professionals’ Club, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Marilyn enjoyed volunteering with the Red Cross, Departments of Veterans Affairs, and Fisher House, teaching Sunday School, singing in the church choir for many years, reading, cooking, gardening, sewing, knitting, and crewel embroidery. She enjoyed holding Bible study in her home and sharing her amazing testimony of her life following Christ. She never met a stranger and loved encouraging others.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Wood of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; stepson, Thomas (Brenda) Klingner of Valley View, Texas; stepdaughter, Deborah (Joe) Biehle of North Vernon; brother, Phillip R. (Kim) Chamberlin of Scipio, sisters, Jean (Richard) Beesley of North Vernon , and Cynthia (Paul) Goley of Madison; grandchildren, Jason Klingner of Valley View, Texas, Carissa (Jeff) Brownlee of Lewisville, Texas, Kristie (Todd) Vogel of and Lindy Biehle Hensley, both of North Vernon, and Jodi (Chris) Hogan of Floyd Knobbs; great-grandchildren, Nathan Vogel, Luke Biehle, Cameron Hensley, Payton Vogel and Karlee Vogel, all of North Vernon, Dylan Hogan, and Easton Hogan, both of Floyd Knobbs, Emma Klingner of Valley View, Texas, Cooper Brownlee and Jacob Brownlee both of Lewisville, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Shirley Johnston and infant sister, Phylis Chamberlin.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Dan Barringer officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
Memorials may be made in honor of Marilyn through the funeral home to Tennessee Fisher House Foundation or Tennessee State Veteran’s Home.
