Marilyn Motsinger Obituary

On Friday, June 12, 2020, Marilyn Joan Motsinger, loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother passed away at the age of 92.

Marilyn was born on September 17th, 1927 to Orville J. and Bertha Moore in North Vernon, Indiana.  She married her first husband, Melvin R. Juett in October of 1948; he preceded her in death in November of 1989.  She married her second husband, Roy E. Motsinger in March of 1993.  He preceded her in death in December of 2014.  She graduated from Paris Crossing High School and attended Franklin College.

Marilyn spent an interesting life that included performing with the Moore Sisters radio show, providing piano lessons, tending to her prized Canna Lilies, toiling over her many cross-stitch quilts, working with livestock on the family farm, and leading a group of concerned parents to establish the first kindergarten program at Graham Creek Elementary School in Commiskey, Indiana.  This endeavor allowed her to share her love of reading stories to children and helping the pages of the books come to life.  Marilyn was the family memory of past generations and she enjoyed telling the stories of their lives.  She took personal interest in bringing flowers to their gravesites and honoring their souls every year.

She is survived by her son Samuel (JoAnne) Juett of Indianapolis, grandchildren Jarred (Jessica) and Jacqueline (Kyle) also of Indianapolis; sister Karen Schnoebelen; niece Elizabeth Jane Taggert; nephew Ronald Cottingham; sister-in-law Jessie Kleber and numerous family members.

Visitation is open to the public from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2020 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon, Indiana.  A private funeral service will be held later with burial at the Cana Cemetery.
