Mark Gurdon Haines

Mark Gurdon Haines, 51, of North Vernon, passed away on February 24, 2023, at his residence.

Born February 3, 1972, at Columbus Regional Hospital, he was the son of Lewis G. and Vonna L. (Dixon) Haines.

Mark was a 1990 graduate of Jennings County High School and worked at the sawmill for L&L Lumber in Dudleytown for over 20 years. He attended Della Hamilton’s Church. Mark enjoyed working on cars and mowers and playing the guitar.

He is survived by his parents, Lewis G. and Vonna L. (Dixon) Haines of North Vernon; brother, Curtis (Rachel) Haines of North Vernon; and nephews, Adam Haines and Clark Haines, both of North Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gurdon & Clara Mae Haines and Kirby & Laura Dixon.

 A funeral service for Mark will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Lewis Wright officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.  Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in North Vernon.

Memorials may be made in honor of Mark through the funeral home to Hayden Historical Museum or Donor’s Choice of Organization.
