Marlin Knarr Obituary

Marlin Dean Knarr, 88, of North Vernon, passed away at 11:47 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at his residence.

Born January 30, 1936, in Jennings County, he was the son of the late Loren Elton and Florence (Eberwein) Knarr. He married Barbara Ann Morris on October 18, 1969, at the First Baptist Church in North Vernon; she preceded him in death on August 23, 2021.  

Marlin was a 1954 graduate of North Vernon High School and served in the National Guard for ten years from 1954 until 1964. He was a lifelong farmer and had previously worked as a custodian for Brush Creek Elementary for 20 years and Arvin’s Industries for five years. He was a former member of the First Baptist Church in North Vernon. He enjoyed farming, tractors, and raising cattle.

He is survived by his son, Kevin Dean (Bethany Root) Knarr of North Vernon; daughter, Joella (Joseph) Bennett of North Vernon; brother, Ray (Ronita) Knarr of North Vernon; sisters, Charlene Grinstead of Middlesex, North Carolina and Linda Roark of North Vernon; and grandchildren, Dillon Bennett, Dustin Bennett, Aaron Knarr, and Autumn Root, all of North Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his brother, Larry Knarr.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2024, in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon with Bob Ochs officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.

Memorials in honor of Marlin may be made through the funeral home to Campbell Township Fire Department.
