Mary Elizabeth (Snodgrass) Flores, 70, of Seymour passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
Born on June 7, 1955, in Quantico, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John Snodgrass and Velma Snodgrass. She grew up in Bachmanville, Pennsylvania, where she spent her youth volunteering at her grandfather’s taxidermy shop and enjoying annual trips to the PA Farm Show with friends.
A 1973 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School, Mary’s lifelong love of horses led her to a position at Penn National Racecourse. It was there she met Gilberto Flores; the two married and welcomed their daughter, Cristina. Mary later dedicated over twenty years of service to Nippon Steel Pipe America, where she was far more than an employee; she was a steadfast friend and a benefit to many, known for her helpful spirit and kind heart.
Mary was a woman of the outdoors. She found peace in her flower gardens and spent countless hours bird watching. She held a special affection for her hummingbirds—or "hummies," as she fondly called them—meticulously tracking and feeding them each season. Mary was happiest when surrounded by nature or proudly cheering from the sidelines of her grandchildren’s many activities.
Mary’s legacy of love lives on through her daughter, Cristina (Scott) Jenkins; her half-brother, John (Becca) Snodgrass; and her adored grandsons, Tyler, Nicholas (Kalynda), and Cameron James. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Ryan, Andrew (Kayla), and Kyle Jenkins, and Rachel (Argenis) Disla; her great-grandchildren, Ellie, Charli, Jonas, Hazel, Kingston, Ryder, and Rylee; numerous cousins; her best friend and soul sister, Holly Wagner; and her beloved Aussie, Zeus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her aunts, Norma Ramsey and Marlene Dowhower; her uncles, Richard Robertson, John Ramsey, and Richard Dowhower; and her cousin, Doretta Dowhower.
A gathering to celebrate Mary’s life will be held on Thursday, January 8th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon. Cremation will follow the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mary’s honor to Midwest Australian Shepherd Rescue (midwestaustralianshepherdrescue.org).
