Mary F. (Stohler) Greene

Mary F. Greene, 92, of North Vernon, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Majestic Care in North Vernon.

She was born on August 16, 1928, in Madison County and lived in the Anderson area until she moved to Greentown in 1972. She also lived in Kokomo for a number of years. Mary and her late husband, Harold A. Greene moved to North Vernon in September 1989.

Mary was employed at Wasson’s Department Store and the Unemployment office in Anderson. While living in Kokomo she was employed at Maudlin’s & Cossell Nursey and Woody’s Convenience Store. After moving to North Vernon, she was employed at Hooks Drug Store on Buckeye Street.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold A. Greene on December 6, 1991; her parents, Cecile (Hanger) and Lundy Stohler; siblings, Evelyn Beesley, Helen Brown, and Charles Stohler.

Mary was a member of Senior Center in Columbus, Smiling Seniors and Jennings County Seniors of North Vernon. She was on the board of directors of the Ohio Valley Opportunities, Jennings County Senior Resources, Jennings County Co-ordinating Council, and a member of County A.A.R.P. She also served on the Muscatatuck County Park Board.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces; and great-great-great nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. W. Sherman Beville officiating, Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
