Mary Francis Leasure, 78, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at her residence.
Born July 4, 1947, in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Emily Jane (Elliott) Roney. She married Dickie D. Leasure on January 18, 1969, at the Methodist Church in North Vernon; he survives.
Mary was a 1968 graduate at North Vernon High School and worked in patient care and as the director of support for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville for 20 plus years, and a caregiver for Help at Home. She enjoyed attending card club, playing bingo, reading, crafts, sewing and crocheting. Mary especially loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren sports and activities.
Surviving with her husband of 56 years, Dickie, are her sons, Richard E. (Annette) Roney of Scipio and D.J. (Heather) Leasure of North Vernon; her daughter, Tina Leasure of North Vernon; grandchildren, Richard A. (Susie) Roney, Aaron J. (Kristie) Roney, Tiffany C. (Bryan) Taylor, Bryan P. (Sarah) Goodpaster, Frankie M. Goodpaster, Emily M. (Chaz Vogel) Jackson, Jessica D. Leasure, Aubrie G. Leasure and Joseph S. Leasure; great-grandchildren, Blakley Roney, Keith Roney, Jake Roney, Kyla Maschino, Andrew Maschino, Colten W. Leasure, Abby L. Taylor, Owen M. Taylor, Emma K. Taylor, Kamry S. Phillips, Auslyn Vanderbur, Ayden Vanderbur, Journey Goodpaster, Konner W. Ruark, Avery Gilpin, Drew Goodpaster, Michael Vogel and Sawyer Vogel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Camie S. Goodpaster; grandson, Andrew S. Leasure; brother, Merrill Roney; and sisters, Betty Campbell and Loetta Kay Bowman.
A funeral service for Mary will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Richard Burcham officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in North Vernon.
Memorials may be made in honor of Mary through the funeral home to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
