Mary E. (Ashton) Wright

Mary E. Wright, 64, of Butlerville, passed away at 11:17 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Norton King’s Daughter Health in Madison.

Born November 9, 1958, in Seymour, she was the daughter of the late Mason Ashton and Martha (Poore) Williams.

Mary worked for the Shoe Factory in Osgood, Erlers Industries in North Vernon, housekeeping for The Waters in Madison, and The Ogle House Best Western in Vevay. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and flowers.

Survivors include her daughter, Bobbie Stokes of Butlerville; brothers, James “Jamie” Ashton, of Carrollton, Kentucky, Daniel “Keith” (Belinda) Ashton of Madison, William “Bill” (Joyce) Ashton of Kentucky, and Ronald “Ronnie” Ashton of Butlerville; sister, Dianna (Ronnie) Bott of North Vernon; and grandchildren, Shaenti Hamel, Dillon Loeza, and Peyton Loeza, all of Butlerville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Ben and Oliver “Ollie” Hamel; and grandparents, William and Alfaretta Poore and Leroy and Louise Ashton.

A funeral service for Mary will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. A burial will follow in the Otter Creek Cemetery in Jennings County.

Memorials may be made in honor of Mary through the funeral home for expense.
