Mary "Catherine" Boardman

Mary “Catherine” Boardman, 96, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:53 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at her residence.

Born September 5, 1929, in Jennings County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Belle (Lockhard) Driver. She married Kenneth Boardman on November 14, 1990, in Vernon; he preceded her in death on December 14, 2018.

Catherine worked in the meat department for Jay C Food Store for 32 years before retiring in 1995. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in North Vernon. Catherine enjoyed flowers.

Survivors include her brother, Paul Roger (Joyce) Driver of North Vernon; her sister, Martha Jane Driver of North Vernon; and her niece, Sharon Gallusser.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Arthur James Driver; and sisters, Margaret Pearson, Dorothy Kirkpatrick, Pauline Perkins, and Mildred Shinolt.

A funeral service for Catherine will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Caleb Reynolds officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made in honor of Catherine through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
