Mary Lou Malcomb Nugent,86, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:40 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour.
Born June 15, 1938, in Jennings County, she was the daughter of the late James Harold and LaVerne Mae (Vance) Malcomb. She married John Edward Nugent on December 22, 1962, at the Tea Creek Baptist Church in Jennings County; he preceded her in death on August 8, 2008.
Mary Lou graduated from Paris Crossing High School in 1957. She worked in the office for McAlpin Department Store in Cincinnati, Ohio for 30 years and had previously worked for the FBI in Indianapolis for 20 years. She attended Vernon Baptist Church, Lovett Township Volunteer Fire Department activities, Red Hat Ladies, Hill Toppers Car Club in Cincinnati, Ohio, Westside Cruisers in Lawrenceburg, and a former member of Tea Creek Baptist Church. Mary Lou enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, attending car shows and volunteering at church.
Survivors include her brothers, James (Nettie) Malcomb of North Vernon and Don (Judy) Malcomb of Vernon; brother-in law, Robert Tylicki of New Albany; nephews, Paul (Erin) Malcomb of Kent, Charlie (Jamie) Malcomb, Donnie Malcomb, Jon Malcomb, Mike Malcomb, Brian (Kerry) Malcomb and Trevor (Angie) Hyden, all of North Vernon; Kenny (Erin) Moore of Seymour, Rob (Pam) Moore of Clarksville and Robert Tylicki of Chicago, Illinois, nieces, Jill (Jeff Fisher) Johnston of Columbus, Gena (Scott) Bowman and Jan (Adrian) Hardwick, both of North Vernon, Lisa (Vance) Hanson of Georgetown, Kentucky; and several great-nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Lois Tylicki.
The funeral for Mary Lou will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Don Morris and Rev. Troy Burns officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in honor of Mary Lou through the funeral home to Lovett Township Volunteer Fire Department or Vernon Baptist Church.
