Michael Alan Sporleder

Michael Alan Sporleder, 69, of Columbus passed away at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2016 at his residence. 

Born December 31, 1946 in Jennings County, Mr. Sporleder was the son of Oliver Sporleder Sr.  and Margaret Louise Smith Sporleder. He married Elizabeth Ann “Beth” Bott on September 19, 1965 at the First Baptist Church in North Vernon; they later divorced.

Mr. Sporleder was a 1964 graduate of North Vernon High School and served in the U. S. Army from  June 14, 1966 – June 13, 1972 during Vietnam.  He worked on the assembly line and maintenance for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus retiring on March 1, 2010 after 45 years.  He was a member of Zenas Baptist Church, National Rifle Association and Timbergate Golf Course in Columbus and A.A. R. P.  His enjoyments were playing golf, bowling, watching TV.

He is survived by his sons, Mitchell Sporleder of Columbus and Jerad (Winter) Sporleder of Crothersville; his ex-wife, Beth Sporleder of North Vernon; sisters, Joyce (Lawrence) Asman of Clermont, Florida; Judy (Gilbert) Maupin of Commiskey and Anita (Donald) Verner of Sheridan, Wyoming; grandchildren, Ryleigh E. Sporleder of North Vernon, Kaylyn Holman, Koby Davis and Payton M. Sporleder all of Crothersville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Aaron Sporleder and brother, Oliver Sporleder Jr.

A funeral service for Mr. Sporleder will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Zenas Baptist Church Building Church.
