Nancy Renee Banister

Last week, we had to say goodbye to our sister, Nancy Renee Banister (age 60).  She passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022, and was the daughter of Cecil and Marilyn (Foist) Banister of Scipio, Indiana.

We all remember Nancy's pretty smile and her energetic personality. 

Opinionated, enthusiastic, and a free spirit, her energy flowed through many aspects of her life.  A 1980 graduate of Jennings County High School, she was athletic, highly competitive, intelligent, quick-witted, and fun loving.  Nancy also lived in Texas where she served as a municipal court judge.  She loved all animals and was a compassionate care giver to many.

Survivors include her mother, Marilyn Banister; four sisters: Janet Tempest (David) and Polly Thormin (Paul) of Scipio, Kristi Wilson (Jay) of North Vernon, Indiana, and Julianna Proctor of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; seven nieces and nephews; seven great nieces and nephews; and two great, great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil R. Banister, her brother, Lance Colby Banister, and her niece, Andrea Lee Matern.

Whether you were a stranger in need, or she was putting a cigarette out on your chest, we will all miss Nancy.

There will be no public funeral or memorial service.  Gifts in memory of Nancy can be given to Mercy Rescue and Adoption in North Vernon, Indiana.
