Nancy C. Sims, 88, of North Vernon, passed away at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour.
Born October 25, 1936, in Jennings County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Eva Lucielle (Cox) Stewart. She married Charles W. Sims on December 30, 1956, at the Zion Baptist Church in Jennings County; he survives.
Nancy was a 1954 graduate of North Vernon and retired from the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Vernon and Three Corners Home Economics Club. Nancy enjoyed playing the organ and singing in the choir at the First Baptist Church, traveling to Florida in the winter and taking Caribbean cruises.
Surviving with her husband, Charles W. Sims; are her sons, Mark (Annette) Sims and James E. Sims, both of North Vernon; and grandchildren, Kyle Andrew (Keely) Sims of Bloomington and Kirby Danielle (Louie Landman) Sims of Broad Ripple.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Coyle and Doris “Jeannie” Sinkes.
A memorial service for Nancy will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in North Vernon with the Rev. Braden Adams officiating. The visitation with family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial.
Memorials may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in honor of Nancy to the First Baptist Church.
