Norma Jean Robbins, 85, of North Vernon, passed away at 6:20 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.
Born August 14, 1935, in Milton, Kentucky, she was the daughter of James W. and Hazel (Coghill) Thompson. She married Ronald R. Robbins on January 26, 1956, in Madison; he preceded her in death on October 30, 2009.
Norma was a 1954 graduate of Trimble County High School in Bedford, Kentucky. She was employed as an attendant for Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville, retiring in 1986 after 20 years. Norma was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in North Vernon. She enjoyed crocheting, watching television, pets, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, Ronald (Betty) Robbins of Columbus, Randall Darren Robbins and Michael Theodore (Sandy) Robbins, both of North Vernon; daughters, Cathy (Ralph) Foster of Scipio and Tonjua Gale Pearson of North Vernon; sister, Carol Robinson of Madison; sixteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Ricky W. Robbins; brother, Gerald Wayne Thompson; sister, Judith Tafflinger; and grandson, Micky Joe Owen.
A funeral service for Norma will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Jim Terry officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. Burial will follow in the Scipio Cemetery in Scipio.
