Norman M. Rogers Jr., 65, of North Vernon, passed away at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at his residence.
Born November 22, 1958, in Terre Haute, he was the son of Dorothy (Blair) Rogers Cosby and the late Norman M. Rogers Sr. He married Brenda Bates on September 4, 1992, in Greensburg; she survives.
Norman was a 1977 graduate of Columbus North High School and served in the United States Army. He was a truck driver for 40 years logging in over 1.5 million miles and retired from T&K Trucking in Columbus where he had worked for five years. Norman also worked as a mechanic for Bates Concrete in Columbus and was an ordained minister. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing guitar, camping and muscle cars.
Surviving with his wife, Brenda; are his children, Ashley (Clifford Bryant) Fixmer of Greensburg, Shane Bottoms of Madison, Michelle Bottoms of Columbus, and Amanda (Martyn) Pritchard of Indianapolis; mother, Dorothy Cosby of Kingsport, Tennessee; stepfather, John Cosby of Columbus; brothers, Brian Cosby of Franklin and Tim (Alesia) Cosby of Kingsport, Tennessee; and grandchildren, Joshua South, Aidden Fixmer, Nevaeh Bryant and Drake Bryant, all of Greensburg, Romanza Lewis of Columbus, and Jaxson Pritchard of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A funeral service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with military honors by members of Matt Hester Post #2021 V.F.W. The visitation for family and friends will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
Memorials may be made in honor of Norman through the funeral home for expenses.
