Opal June Peacock, 75, of Commiskey, passed away at 8:16 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Born June 27, 1947, in Brownstown, she was the daughter of the late Jarmon and Susie (Davidson) Davidson. She married Chester Leon Peacock on November 5, 1964, in Uniontown; he preceded her in death on May 17, 2020.
Opal worked as a waitress for the Hen House in Seymour, Lurton’s in Commiskey and Uniontown Restaurant. She had also worked for Lichter Rubber in Seymour and was a homemaker. She was a member of Coffee Creek Christian Church in Paris Crossing and a former member of Coffee Creek Conservation Club and American Legion in Seymour. Opal enjoyed going to flea markets and casinos, playing cards and bingo and shopping.
Survivors include sons, Chris (Lisa) Peacock of Austin, Mark (Tonya) Peacock of North Vernon, Tim Peacock and Chad Peacock, both of Commiskey, and Brian Peacock of Seymour; daughters, Robin (Aaron) Taskey of North Vernon and Amanda Peacock of Crothersville; brother, Virgil (Bessie) Davidson of Scottsburg; sister, Carol (James) Herald of Crothersville; grandchildren, Ryan Peacock and Brittany (Charles) Hollan, both of Austin, Clarissa (Arlie Campbell) Peacock and Keaton Sprague, both of Crothersville, Trae (Leslie) Peacock, Kassidy (Brandon) Turner, Samantha Vires, Megan Taskey, and Toby Taskey, all of North Vernon, and Levi Peacock and Logan Peacock, both of Commiskey; and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Willie, Clayton, Clyde, and Cecil Davidson; sisters, Leeanna Shirley and Betty Brock and grandson, Trevor Peacock.
The funeral service for Opal will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Danny Kessler officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Coffee Creek Christian Church Cemetery in Paris Crossing.
