Patricia Jo (Ross) Amis

Patricia Jo Amis, 78, of Vevay, passed away at 6:50 a.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Seymour Crossing in Seymour.

Born July 30, 1946, in Holton, she was the daughter of the late Myron and Laura (Pratt) Ross.  She married William “Bill” Amis on April 12, 1965, at the Nebraska Church of God; he preceded her in death on March 20, 2024.

Patricia graduated from Holton High School in 1964 and worked as a QMA for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville, with her husband doing long haul trucking, and for Wal-Mart in Madison. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing board and card games, reading, watching movies, crocheting, and quilting. Patricia loved traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her sons, Pete (Lauren) Amis of Jesup, Georgia and Michael Todd Amis of Plainfield; daughters, Liesl (Ryan Miller) Manlief of North Vernon and Julia Alvarado of Corpus Christi, Texas; brothers, George (Jean) Ross, Daniel (Starlene) Ross, and Timothy (Deborah) Ross, all of North Vernon, and James (Jill) Ross of Scipio; sisters, Carin Newman of Columbus, Lillian (Michael) Jordan and Mamie (Michael) Williams, both of Hartsville, and Nancy (Carl) Beeman of North Vernon; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Dan) Beirne of Charleston, South Carolina, Riley Amis, Walker Amis, and Wyatt Amis, all of Jesup, Georgia, Nichelle (Alfredo Gonzalez) Alvarado of Corpus Christi, Texas, Megan (Daniel) Mendez of Beeville, Texas, Chelsea (fiancé, Jacob Benavente) Alvarado of Buda, Texas, Daniel Alvarado, of Austin, Texas, Matthew (Peyton) Alvarado of Fort Cavazos, Texas, Jennifer Alvarado of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Mitchell Miller of North Vernon; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Samuel and Robert Ross; and sister, Rita Bramkamp.

A funeral service for Patricia will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Rev. Jacob Ross officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorial donations may be made in honor of Patricia through the funeral home to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the American Heart Association.
