Patrick Lee "Pat" Garrett

Patrick Lee “Pat” Garrett, 77, of Seymour, passed away at 9:10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Compass Park-Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin.

Born April 9, 1947, in Anderson, he was the son of the late Carl O. Garrett and Ica M. Baldwin. He married Jo Coles on February 28, 1998, in Tennessee; she survives.

Pat was a 1965 graduate of Seymour High School and went to Cummins Skill Trade School for Electrician. He served in the National Guard from 1966 until 1972. Pat worked as an electrician for Cummins Engine Company until he retired and was the owner and operator of Broadway Electric in Seymour. He was also a lifelong farmer.  Pat was a 48-year member of Six Mile Masonic Lodge in Hayden, Jackson Masonic Lodge in Seymour and Hayden Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Hayden. He served as Lodge Secretary and was a Past Master of Six Mile Masonic Lodge. Pat enjoyed woodworking, stained glass and fishing.

Surviving with his wife Jo  are his son, Kevin (Dawn) Holley of Coatesville; daughter, Tammy Garrett of North Vernon; stepsons, Mark (Kim) Matney of Stanton, Kentucky and Jay (Michelle) Matney of Columbus; brother, Thomas W. Garrett of North Vernon; grandchildren, Angela (Dean) Holley, Kylie Holley, and Clara Holley, all of Coatesville, Ica (Dexter) Reynolds of North Vernon, Dawn Foster of Beech Grove, Carl Garrett of Madison, and Christina Garrett of Michigan; step-grandchildren, Tyson (Michelle) Matney and Amber (Steve) Axsom, both of Scipio, Sean Matney, Kristina Matney, and Sean Matney, all of Columbus; five great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Patrick Garrett.

A Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with Mike Lovins and members of Six-Mile and Jackson Masonic Lodge. The visitation with family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the Masonic service.

Memorials in honor of Pat may be made through the funeral home to Alzheimer’s Foundation for Vascular Dementia Research or Compass Park Memory Care Garden A&B activities.
