Paul Edward Combs Jr., 58, of North Vernon, passed away at 12:18 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.
Born June 30, 1967, in Columbus, he was the son of the late Paul Edward Combs Sr., and Mary (Coy) Yeager. He married his first wife Sandy Ann White; she preceded him in death on February 21, 2023. He married his second wife, Christy L. Brown Riley-Combs on June 10, 2021, in North Vernon; she preceded him in death on March 24, 2025.
Paul was a self-employed painter, and owned J&L Simple Mans Buy, Sell and Trade. He had previously worked as a truck driver for Pony Express and Componex. He was a member of the Worship Center in Jennings County. Paul enjoyed going to the casinos, fishing, boating, traveling, attending yard sales, listening to music and Karaoke. He loved spending time with his family and family get togethers.
Survivors include his daughter, Tehona “Tia” (William Waltermire) Neal of North Vernon; godson, Rodney Calvert of North Vernon; bonus son, Cyle Meyer of Commiskey; step-daughters, Lindsay Tinsley of Salem, Rachelle Hess of Mishawaka, and Haley Howard of Butlerville; special friend, Cathy Howard of North Vernon; brothers, Robert (Amber) Combs and Daniel Combs, both of North Vernon; sisters, Sheila Hurtado and Shelly Yeager, both of Columbus, and Sandra Hulsopple of North Vernon; grandchildren, Daisy May Hornback and Brooklyn Adele Hornback, both of Paris Crossing, Halo Rayne Neal of Columbus, Neaveh Neal, Brian Waltermire, Michael Watermire, Nicholas Waltermire, Chadwick Waltermire, Quentin Waltermire, and K.W. Waltermire, all of North Vernon, and Brooke Waltermire of Commiskey; several nieces and nephews including his nephew, Joey (Abby) Pennycuff of Butlerville; and best friend, Joel Serrano of Ninevah.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wives.
A private family view will be held at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.
