Peggy Lou Wooten Sweeney, 82, of Columbus, passed away on June 11, 2022, at her residence.
Born December 19, 1939, in Columbia, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Gwinn and Nora (Yeadon) Wooten. She married Marvin Sweeney on January 28, 1956, at Niagara Falls. He preceded her in death.
Peggy was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. She was a member of Living Fire Ministry in Seymour. Peggy enjoyed shopping, embroidery, traveling, music, and watching her favorite movies, Canadian Bacon and George of the Jungle. She loved plants, flowers and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth Marvin Sweeney of Columbus; her daughters, Gwinna (Greg) Lanning of Columbus and Lanna (Joe White) Bush of Greensburg; brothers, Hollis Wooten of Columbus, and Lavoy Wooten of Texas; grandchildren, Jeremy W. and Jimmy D. Goodin, Isaac Cory Lanning, and Anthony Dustin, Nicholas Adam and Nathan Daniel Bush; step-grandchildren, Christopher Lanning and Erin Rudolph; great-grandchildren, Kameron, Kimber, Dylan, and Dakota Goodin, Chase Sester, Joey Miller, and Bradley, Brooklyn, Payton and Reagan Bush; and great-great-grandchildren, Baylee, Trinity, Thomas, and Tristen Goodin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Betty Riddle, and Gwinn and Brenda Wooten.
A funeral for Peggy will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with Rev. Brian Lanning officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
Memorials may be made in honor of Peggy through the funeral home to donor’s choice of organization.
