Rex Walcott Obituary

Rex L. Walcott, 85 yrs. old, of Bloomington, IN, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 18, 2021 in North Vernon, IN.  Born in Somerset KY, he was the son of Shoff & Gladys Walcott.  He moved to Bloomington, IN with his family as a child.

To those who knew him, both family and friends, Rex had a magnetic personality about him.  Both young and old were drawn to him to hear all about his antics from years past.  As a young man growing up and during his late teens/early adult years, he traveled the country, sometimes with his older brother on their motorcycles, creating the many stories that we all loved to hear, and of course those stories always had a new twist to them each time they were relayed.

Rex was a life-long homebuilder/remodeler, with many homes still standing as a testament to his craftsmanship.  Juggling his profession, along with raising his family, racing motorcycles and buying the latest “gadget or toy” kept him full of life.  Rex never did grow old mentally.  He lived life to the fullest each and every day.  We will miss his enthusiasm for life, but have many stories to draw from, to keep his memory alive.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Jennie (Neideffer) Walcott; 3 daughters Kay (Jim) Medley; Peggy (John) Bray; Brenda (David) Neal. 4 grandchildren, Laura “Nate” Hancock; Branden “Courtney” Medley, Jennifer “Eric” Brown; & Chris “Kyrsten” Bray.  8 great grandchildren, Cole; Austin; Aubrey; Addison; Autumn; Hazel; Brexton & Nash.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Many thanks to Majestic Care Nursing Facility of North Vernon IN & Our Hospice of South Central Indiana during these past few weeks for their excellent care of our father. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be sent to the “Our Hospice of South Central Indiana”.
