Richard Allen Monday

Richard Allen Monday, 91, of North Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at his residence.

Born June 12, 1934, in Weston, he was the son of the late William and Dolly (Lawrence) Monday. Richard was an Alumni of Vernon School and served in the United States Army.

Richard was a supervisor and inspector for Arvin’s in Columbus, retiring after 44 years. He was a member of the Rush Branch Church and Christ Community Church both in Butlerville. He enjoyed singing, music, playing the organ and piano, cooking, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.

Richard is survived by his brothers, Bill (Debbie) Monday, Jerry Monday, and Kenneth (Pam) Monday, all of North Vernon; his sisters, Gloria Browning of Madison and Linda Ross of North Vernon; and of host of nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack and Harold William Monday; and sisters, Judy Canary, JoAnn Combest, Virginia Lamb, Martha Lacey, and Hattie Rothert. 

A funeral service for Richard will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2025, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. The burial will follow in the Rush Branch Cemetery in Butlerville with military graveside rites by members of Matt Hester Post #2021.
