Richard Allen "Rich" Taylor

Richard Allen “Rich” Taylor, 68, of North Vernon, passed away at 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Born November 30, 1957, in Berlin, Illinois, the son of the late Troy Wyatt and Jessie Mae (Beard) Taylor. He married Sherry Meade Taylor on June 9, 1991, in Indianapolis; she preceded him in death on October 3, 2016.

Rich attended Richmond High School in Richmond and worked for a Packaging Store in Indianapolis. He was a member of Queensville Community Church. Rich enjoyed listening to music, watching YouTube, collecting records, CD’s, and posters, collecting audio files and was an animal lover.

Survivors include his stepson, Rodney (Heather) Mead of Butlerville; brothers, Tony Taylor of North Vernon; sister, Cathy (Richard Friénd) Taylor of Greensburg; grandchildren, Shalin Mead of Anderson and Danielle Hess of Indianapolis; nephew, Michael (Hannah) Taylor of Monona, Wisconsin; great-niece, Salem Juniper Vivian Taylor of Wisconsin; and step-niece, Ridley Viers of Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; companion, Patti Badgett; stepson, Shane Mead; brothers, Eugene and Kenneth Taylor; and sister, Vivian Lynn Taylor.

The funeral service for Rich will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Scott Chastain and Brother, Gerald Caudill. The visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorials may be made in honor of Rich through the funeral home for funeral expenses.
