Richard "Rick" Dennis Hudson

Richard “Rick” Dennis Hudson, 75, of North Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, Indiana.

Born April 11, 1950, in Washington, Indiana, Rick was the son of the late William Hudson and Mary Schooley. He married Peggy Franks on August 23, 1969, at the Vernon Baptist Church in Vernon, Indiana; she survives.

Rick served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972 and was a truck driver for Dave O’Mara and Padgett Trucking for 30 years, retiring in 2023. Rick was a member of Christ Baptist Church in North Vernon. He enjoyed racing, taking vacations, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Rick is survived by his wife, Peggy; son Rick Hudson of North Vernon; Daughter Susan (Don) Norman of Cloverdale; Brother Don Lutz of Warsaw; brothers-in-laws Larry Franks, Tom Franks, and Raymond (June) Franks all of North Vernon, and Elmer Wagner of Warsaw; sister, Rita Brinkley of Ft. Myers, Florida; sister-in-laws Patty Franks, Virginia Clark, Nancy Perry, Martha Franks, and Barb Franks all of North Vernon, and Marlene Hudson of Jonesville, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews, to include Kathy (Randy) Bonesteel of Paris Crossing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Sam Jones; and his brother, Don Hudson.

A funeral service with military honors for Rick will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Christ Baptist Church with Rev. Frank McGee officiating, with burial following at Vernon Cemetery. The visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.

Memorials may be made in honor of Rick through the funeral home to Christ Baptist Church.
