Richard Thomas “Dickie” Rothert Jr., 73, of North Vernon, passed away at 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25th, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born October 17th, 1951, in Seymour, Indiana, he was the son of Richard Thomas Rothert Sr. and Hattie Arlene (Monday) Rothert. He married Holly Low on August 14th, 1982, in Lovett; she survives.
Dickie was a 1969 graduate of Jennings County High School and attended a Tech School after. He owned and worked at Rothert’s Electronics for more than 40 years and was a Jennings County school bus driver. He volunteered with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and he coached girls’ softball and boys’ baseball. Dickie enjoyed fishing, camping, target shooting, watching I.U. sports, and playing softball.
Surviving with his wife of 42 years, Holly, is his son, Joseph Rothert of Clinton, Massachusetts; his daughters Sabrina (Andrew) Ashmore and Autumn (Brandon) Wood both of North Vernon; his brother, Bobby Rothert of North Vernon; his sisters Linda (Tim) Cline of Deputy, Vickie (Charlie) Foga of North Vernon, and Debbie (Mark) Carman of North Vernon; grandchildren, Kyelina Hembree, Angelina Hembree, Sage Hembree, Matthew Hembree, Alvan Ashmore, Brandon Wood Jr., Ashalynn Wood, Addalynn Wood, and Brynlee Wood, all of North Vernon; and great-grandchildren, Kendall Young, Emberlee Young, and River Johnson, all of North Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Denny Ray Rothert.
The visitation for Dickie will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday June 30th, 2025, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.
Memorials may be made in honor of Dickie through the funeral home to the American Heart Association.
