Rickie Joe Anderson Sr.

Rickie Joe Anderson Sr., 71, of North Vernon, passed away at his home on March 11, 2025.

Born June 25, 1953, in Seymour, he was the son of the late Sylvester Levi Anderson Sr. and Wanda (Wilson) Anderson.

Rickie served in the U.S. Air Force from 1971 until 1974. He worked as a self-employed over-the-road semitruck driver for 40 years before retiring in 2015.  He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, listening to music, and NASCAR.

He is survived by his son, Rickie (Penny) Anderson Jr. of Commiskey; daughters, Chassity (Greg) Anderson-Brown of Brooksville, Florida and Billie Jo Anderson of New Port Richey, Florida; brothers, Randy Anderson and Sylvester Levi Anderson Jr., both of Seymour; sisters, Charlene McKinney and Addie Brooks, both of Seymour, and Jacqueline Martin of Paris Crossing; twelve grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; companion, Patty Herd; grandson, Ryan Lee Ross; brother, Tim Anderson; and sister, Brenda Howell.

A funeral service for Rickie will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with Rev. Greg Anderson officiating. Visitation for Rickie’s family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home in honor of Rickie to help with expenses.
