Robert Lee Bridges Jr.

Robert Lee Bridges Jr., 79, of North Vernon, passed away at 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at his home.

Born October 7, 1945, in Covington, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Robert Bridges Sr. and Evelyn Marie (Wilson) Tipton. He married Dorothy Ann (Cook) Bridges on January 12, 1981, in Clayton County, Georgia; she preceded him in death on September 18, 2022.

Robert worked for General Motors in Georgia before his retirement. He was a member of the Queensville Community Church, and he enjoyed motorcycles, puzzles, going to flea markets, and collecting Hot Wheels model cars.

He is survived by his sons, Denny (Jana) Bridges of Jellico, Tennessee, Bobby (Kimberly) Bridges of Leesville, Louisiana, and Stephen Palmer of Cleveland, Georgia; daughters, Stephanie (Mark) Cloud and Robin (Brent) Caudill, both of North Vernon, and Tammy (Jerome) Cummins of Pioneer, Tennessee; eleven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his sister, Barbara Bridges.

A funeral service for Robert will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with Rev. Gerald Caudill officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will be held at Vernon Cemetery.

Memorial donations for Robert may be made through the funeral home to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
