Roger Weber Obituary

Roger Allen Weber, 90, of Westport passed away at 11:55 a.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2018, at the home of his son.

Born February 22, 1928, in Jennings County, Mr. Weber was the son of Leonard and Jessie (Hooker) Weber. He married his wife of 69 years, Dorothy Ann “Dottie” Carnes on August 15, 1948. She preceded him in death on January 18, 2018.

Mr. Weber was a 1946 graduate of North Vernon High School.  He worked for the New York Central Railroad for 50 years retiring in 1990 from Conrail; after retiring from the railroad he went on to drive a school bus for both Decatur County Community School for 4 years and Jennings County Schools for 12 years before retiring in 2006. Mr. Weber was awarded Railroader of the Year in 1997 for 47 years of service, was a member of Westport Baptist Church in Westport; a 50 plus year member of both North Vernon Masonic Lodge #59 F&AM and North Vernon Chapter #183 Order of the Eastern Star. He enjoyed mowing grass, walking and watching baseball and sports.

Survivors include sons, Jerry (Ann) Weber of Columbus and Tony (Lisa Smither) Weber of Westport; daughter, Peggy (Tom) Pugh of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; former daughter-in-law, Melissa Weber of Westport; grandchildren, Kevin Patton of Georgia, Kristel (Josh) Bryan of Kansas, Danielle (Rob)  Barrett, Amanda (Stephen) Warford, McKayla (Jordan) Bean, and  Tori (Brandon Phillips) Weber, all of Kentucky, Luke Weber, Leslie (Brian) Corbin and Michael Weber, all of Indiana; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters, Hilda Combs, Margie Castetter and Gladys Stagman.

A funeral service for Mr. Weber will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Pastor Paul May officiating. Family and Friends may call on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday. A Masonic memorial service will be conducted by members of North Vernon Lodge #59 F&AM at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to American Kidney Association or American Heart Association.
