Rosalie Gilham Girt

Rosalie Gilham Girt, 87, of North Vernon, passed away at 11:28 a.m. on Friday, August 4, 2023, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, Indiana.

Born May 4, 1936, in Brown County, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Grace Ann (Adams) Gilham. She married Joe Girt on August 25, 1952, in Nebraska, Indiana; he survives.

Rosalie worked at the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville, Indiana for 13 years, and worked in Home Health Care. She was a homemaker and housewife. Rosalie was a member of the Church of God at Nebraska in Nebraska, Indiana since 1952. She enjoyed going to yard sales and caring for people. Rosalie loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving with her husband of almost 71 years, Joe, are her sons, Benjamin (Vicky) Girt and Mark (Linda) Girt, both of North Vernon, Indiana; daughter, Peggy (Brian) Fisher of Oxford, North Carolina; sisters, Dorothy Pittman of Edinburgh, Indiana and Kathryn Olds of North Vernon, Indiana; grandchildren, Stephanie (Rex) Eaton of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Chris (Danielle) Girt of Baxter, Tennessee, Nichole (Mike) Campany of Knightdale, North Carolina, Katherine (Ben) Henry of Wendell, North Carolina, Ryan (Ashley) Stockdale of Greenville, North Carolina, and Amber Girt and Caleb Girt, both of North Vernon, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Titus Girt of Baxter, Tennessee, Adelyn Eaton and Pierce Eaton, both of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Gabriel Campany and Garrett Campany, both of Knightdale, North Carolina, Jacob Henry and Will Henry, both of Wendell, North Carolina, and Emmerson Stockdale and Owen Stockdale, both of Greenville, North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Carroll, William and Mark Gilham; and sisters, Elizabeth Ward, Anna Cross, and Lillian Martin.

A funeral service for Rosalie will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at the Church of God at Nebraska in Nebraska, Indiana with the Pastor Bobby Leahigh and Reverend William Means officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, August 7, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon, Indiana from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow in the Otter Creek Cemetery in Nebraska, Indiana.
