Rosalita Kay Lucas, 80, of Madison, passed away at 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at her daughter’s home.
Born January 30, 1945, in North Vernon, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Lillian (James) Wells. She was to married William F. Lucas, who preceded her in death.
Rosalita worked as a cook for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville starting in 1984 and later retired from Home Health Care in Madison. She was a member of the Commiskey Baptist Church in Commiskey and the Red Hat Society in Madison, and she was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in North Vernon. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, crafting, and going to yard sales.
She is survived by her sons, David Shawn (Christina Phillips) Grant of Lexington and Cory Grant of Madison; daughter, Tia (Jerry Gabor) Davidson of North Vernon; grandchildren, Alvalee (Rachel) Ritchie of Columbus, Levi (Sami McIntosh) Ritchie, Carson Davidson, Drew Davidson, and Cameron Davidson, all of North Vernon, Kesha Grant of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Shauna Elbisser of Burlington, Kentucky; eighteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Della Rose Herche; sisters, Carolyn Rayburn and Janie Downham Burkhalter; and two great grandchildren.
A funeral service for Rosalita will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with Pastor Scott Kollmann officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
Memorial donations in honor of Rosalita may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society or to the Commiskey Baptist Church.
