Rosemary (Bowden) Losey, 82, of North Vernon, passed away at 2:25 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2023, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
Born October 5, 1940, in North Vernon, she was the daughter of the late Bruce and Lillian (Byram) Bowden. She married Charles Malcom Losey; he preceded her in death in 1964.
Rosemary was a 1958 graduate of North Vernon High School. She worked as a case worker and teacher’s aid for DSI in North Vernon and Columbus before her retirement. Rosemary had previously worked at the Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville and as a bookkeeper for the Treasurer’s Office in Seymour. She was a member of the Sierra Club. Rosemary enjoyed flowers, birds, gardening; and she loved nature.
Survivors include her sons, Todd Losey of Lexington, Kentucky and David (Angie) Hunsucker of Whiteland; daughter, Charla “Jill” (Jon) Losey-Jankowski of St. Charles, Missouri; brother, Richard “Dick” Bowden of Martinsville; grandchildren, Abigail Hunsucker of Chicago, Illinois, Dylan Losey of Lexington, Kentucky and Amanda Carney of Greenwood; and great-grandchildren, Nathan Davy of Chicago, Illinois and Jack Carney, Ted Carney and Eleanor Carney, all of Greenwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Harold Robertson; and sister, Thelma “Jean” Kendrick.
A funeral service for Rosemary will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in North Vernon.
