ROY EDDY “ED” STAPLES
October 27, 1949 – July 13, 2023
Roy E. “Ed” Staples was born October 27, 1949, in Columbus, Indiana to Roy and Marie Staples. He Graduated from Columbus High School in 1967. He also attended Vincennes University for a short time. He married the absolute love of his life, Linda L. Neal on April 3, 1976.
Ed worked at Engelking Patterns, as well as Cunningham Patterns. He also founded and operated a pattern shop N&S Patterns with his father-in-law, Dennis Neal for several years.
Ed loved his farm in Scipio, which he had owned since 1973, he enjoyed his family as well as being outdoors. He found enjoyment in hunting, and watching baseball, and football. He also enjoyed an ice cold Miller Lite.
Ed is survived by his two sons, Matt (Chelsia) Staples of Scipio, and Mike (Julie) Staples of Hayden; seven grandchildren, Ashley (Jarod) McGuire of North Vernon, Lane (Brooke) Staples of Georgetown, Emily (Derrick) Acton, Mason Roark, Abagail Lands, and Megan Roark, all of North Vernon, and Brayton Chastain of Columbus; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Diane Burris, of Columbus; niece, Tara Burris of Lexington, Kentucky; and a nephew, Brody Burris (Sabrina) of Columbus.
Ed was proceeded in death by his wife Linda, and daughter Amanda, as well as his mom and dad.
A funeral service for Ed will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with Pastor Al Davisson officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. A burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
