Ruth Ann Bird, 72, of North Vernon, passed away at 6:45 a.m. on Friday, November 19, 2021, at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison.
Born October 30, 1949, in North Vernon, she was the daughter of Glen Emerson and Margaret (Driver) Pearson.
Ruth worked as a housekeeper for St. Vincent Jennings Hospital and Columbus Regional Hospital. She was a member of Christ Baptist Church. Ruth enjoyed collecting glass dolls, cleaning, growing plants, and listening to Christian music and Elvis Presley. She loved spending time with her grandkids.
Survivors include her daughters, Tammy (Tim) Phelps and Christa Bird, both of North Vernon; brothers, John Pearson and Raymond (Sharon) Pearson, both of North Vernon; sister in-law, Carol Pearson; grandchildren, Keshia Phelps, Dylan Phelps, Addison Jines, Janat Jines and Xander Jackson, all of North Vernon; and great-grandchildren, Grey Phelps, Grimm Phelps and Greyson Phelps, all of North Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill, Kenneth, and Fred Pearson; and sister, Agnes Miller.
A graveside service will be conducted for Ruth at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021, in the Baldwin Cemetery in Vernon with the Rev. Sherman Beville officiating. Family and friends may call at the cemetery on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Arrangements were entrusted to Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
