Obituary

Ms. Sandra Lee Johnson, age 62, of North Vernon, IN, entered this life on September 29, 1960, in Madison, IN. Sandy was the first born to her loving parents, Richard N. Rowlett and Janet L. (Backus) Rowlett of Indianapolis, IN.

Sandy was a life long resident of Indiana, attending Indianapolis Baptist High School and graduating in 1978. Soon after graduation, she began working at American States Insurance Co. A short time later, she was united in marriage to Kenneth T. Lepscum, who preceeded her in death. Sandy and Ken were blessed with two children, Troy D. Lepscum and Misty L. (Lepscum) Gutierrez. Prior to her declining health, she worked as a dispatcher for a local trucking company in Indianapolis. She was a member of Zion's Hill Baptist Church in Martinsville, IN. Sandy enjoyed camping and fishing with her family, crafting, country music, and riding in the "big rigs". Sandy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 8:00 PM at Columbus Regional Hospital. She was surrounded by her loving family as she was called to her Heavenly Home.

A Loving Family

Sandy will be greatly missed by her loving fiance, Jim Heer of North Vernon, IN; her son Troy D. Lepscum (Dana) of North Vernon, IN; her daughter, Misty L. (Lepscum) Gutierrez of Carmel, IN; her parents, Richard N. Rowlett and Janet L. (Backus) Rowlett of Indianapolis, IN; her sister Mary K. (Rowlett) Bryant (Tim) of New Knoxville, OH; her brother, Jeffery R. Rowlett (Patti) of Indianapolis, IN; her grandchildren, Brayden Lepscum, Noah and Katie Townsend, and Kyle Gutierrez; her great granddaughter, Arabella Gutierrez; her niece Molly K. Brooks; and her nephews, Michael Bryant and Jarred and Jaylen Rowlett. Four great nieces, three great nephews, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and her beloved pup, Chance, also survive. She was preceeded in death by her grandparents, Russell N. Rowlett and Anna Marie (Potter) Rowlett, Walter E. Backus, and Mary Helen (Ackerman) Backus.

Sandy chose cremation, with a Celebration of Life to be held in the Fall.

Memorial donations may be made in honor of Sandy through the funeral home to the Sandra L. Johnson Family Fund or to the donor's choice of organization.
