Sandra "Sue" (Kinnear) Lucas

Sandra “Sue” Lucas, 81, of North Vernon, passed away at 12:38 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Majestic Care of North Vernon.

Born July 14, 1941, in San Jacinto, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Roberta (Hough) Kinnear. She married Dean Lucas on November 25, 1961, at the North Vernon United Methodist Church; he survives.

Sue worked for Duke Energy and had previously worked as a loan secretary for the former Union Bank in North Vernon.  Sue enjoyed crocheting, reading, gardening, and flowers, traveling to Florida and fishing while there. Sue loved her dog, Snuggles, and was a good cook.

Surviving with her husband, Dean, are sons, Brad (Nicci) Lucas of North Vernon and Brian (Missy) Lucas of Greenwood; sister, Cathy (Mike) Dalgleish of Dupont; sisters-in-law, Linda Lucas of North Vernon and Joyce Kinnear of Florida; grandchildren, Adam Lucas and Aaron Lucas both of Greenwood, Olivia Lucas, Sohpia Lucas and Andrew Lucas, all of North Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Carole Gabbard and Donnie Kinnear.

A funeral service for Sue will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Don Morris officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be at the funeral home on Monday, September 12, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made in honor of Sue through the funeral home to Interim HealthCare.
