Sarah Jane Shelton

Sarah Jane Shelton, 83, of North Vernon, passed away at 12:59 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at her residence.

Born on November 12, 1940, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Amos E. Shelton and Martha Jean Caldwell Warrick.

Sarah Jane worked at developmental workshops and participated in the Special Olympics at the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville. Sarah Jane enjoyed playing cards, drinking “Big Red” and spending time with her family and friends.

Sarah Jane is survived by her guardians/caregivers, Alicia and Kevin Greene of North Vernon and all her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, John Shelton.

The funeral for Sarah Jane will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Marcus Speer officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday. The burial will be on at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, in the St. Anne Cemetery in North Vernon.
