Shelby Jean Adams, 87, of Seymour, formerly of North Vernon, passed away on June 28, 2024, at her residence.
Born June 7, 1937, in Hancock, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Dewy and Ida Johnson. She married Sterling Leon “Jack” Adams, on December 3, 1955, in Morristown, Tennessee; he preceded her in death on January 18, 2017.
Shelby worked as a cashier for the former Super X in Ohio. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Vernon. Shelby enjoyed shopping and reading.
Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Cole of Seymour; brother, Bernie Johnson of Franklin, Ohio; sister, Helen Johnson of Clearwater, Florida; grandchild, Bridget Kincaid of Seymour; great-grandchildren, Daniel Kincaid, Peighton Lennon, Layton Dowden, and Kaysee Wagers; and great-great-grandchildren, Mayla Kincaid and Blake Kincaid.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sons, Kris and Kerry Adams; granddaughter, Brandy Richardson; sister, Lucille Turnmyer and great-grandchild, Ethan Neilson.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon with Rev. Braden Adams officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.
Memorials in honor of Shelby may be made through funeral home for expenses.
