Shirley Jean Fields, 77, of North Vernon, passed away at 3:06 on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Community Heart and Vascular in Indianapolis.
Born December 28, 1947, in Benham, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Kinnon and Nancy Hazel (Pendleton) Frazier.
Shirley worked as a greeter for Wal-Mart Super Center in Columbus for two years and had previously worked for Flambeau Plastics, Four Seasons Nursing Home and Columbus Convalescent Center, all in Columbus. She enjoyed reading, working puzzles, and was an Elvis fan.
She is survived by her son, Dock D. (Kimberly) Fields of Scipio; sister, Joyce (Steve) Bannister of Scipio; grandchildren, Michael Allen Fields and Katelyn Michelle (Timothy Haney Sr., both of Seymour and Jason (Kaitlyn) Lock of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Octavia Haney, Timmy Haney Jr., David Fields, and Makinna Fields, all of Seymour, and Jaxton Lock of Columbus; nephews, Brian (Christina) Bannister of Hayden and Michael (Brenda) Bannister of Scipio, great-nieces and nephews, Savannah Bannister and Bradley Bannister, both of Scipio, Jacob Bannister, Logan Bannister and Landon Bannister, all of Hayden; and close friend, Bill “Outlaw” Conaway of Madison.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Ron and Kenny Frazier.
A funeral service for Shirley will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Luke Cooper officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Scipio.
Memorials may be made in honor of Shirley through the funeral home to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
