Shirley Ann Jewell, 73, of North Vernon, passed away at 7:40 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Silver Memories in Versailles.
Born January 9, 1951, in Madison, she was the daughter of the late James “Carl” and Betty (Spicer) Burchett.
Shirley graduated from Madison High School in 1970. She worked as a motor route newspaper carrier for nine years for the Madison Courier and before that had worked for Arvin’s in North Vernon and Conn Organ in Madison. She enjoyed bowling, cooking, listening to music, watching Nat Geo Wild, and gardening, especially planting flowers. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Brent (Melissa) Jewell of North Vernon; daughter, Melissa (Mike) McCutchen of Milton, Kentucky; companion, James Jewell of North Vernon; brothers, Mike (Betsy) Burchett, Steve (Laura) Burchett, and Gary (Trish) Burchett; and grandchildren, Brittany Jewell, Bethany Jewell, Blake Jewell, Brooklynn Jewell, Meadow Jewell, Maci Jewell, and Madison Jewell, all of North Vernon, and Lucas McCutchen of Milton, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Debbie Burchett.
Shirley’s visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon with a closing prayer to conclude.
Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home in honor of Shirley to help with funeral expenses.
