Shirley Kathleen Proctor, 71, of North Vernon passed away at 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.
Born April 10, 1949, in Greensburg, she was the daughter of Andrew Louis and Elsie (Green) Blanton. She married Jerry Mack Proctor on February 27, 1970 in North Vernon; he preceded her in death on April 23, 2008.
Shirley worked as a cashier for Wal-Mart retiring after 12 years. She was a member of the North Vernon Moose Lodge, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Am Vets both in Greensburg, and she was a Kentucky Colonel. Shirley enjoyed dancing, reading and especially family time and watching her great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, Kevin Proctor of North Vernon; Jerry (Paula) Proctor of Port St. Lucie, Florida; daughter Jolene Proctor of North Vernon; brothers, Clarence Edward (Jennifer) Blanton and Kenneth Eugene (Carolyn) Blanton, both of Westport; sisters, Myrtle Mae Pittman and Dianna Fae Blanton, both of Greensburg, Elsie (Harold) Goins of Bluefield, West Virginia and Barbara Pokorzinski of Washington State; grandchildren, Michael Proctor, Kendrick Proctor and Angel Proctor, all of Florida, Chrishanna Proctor, Tori McQueen, Casey McQueen and Walker Proctor, all of North Vernon, and Jolene (Christopher) Stepp of Seymour; great-grandchildren, Adrieaunna Norman and Phoenix McQueen, both of North Vernon, Gracelynn Mellencamp and Matthew Mellencamp, both of Seymour, Abigail Proctor of Florida, and Bradley Huff of Dupont.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Louis, William, R.D., Stan and Charlie Clay Blanton; sisters, Louise Idlewine and Lillian Blanton.
Visitation will be held for Shirley from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2020 at the Rudicel Family Event Center, 408 South State Street, North Vernon. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon was entrusted with these arrangements.
Memorials may be made in honor of Shirley through the funeral home for expenses.
