Steven Edward “Steve” McIntire, 77, of North Vernon, passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2020, at McGivney Health Care Center in Carmel.
Born January 30, 1943, in Greenwood, he was the son of Ellice E. and Myrtle L (Riley) McIntire. He married Frances Ruth Carson on March 1, 1963 at the Pleasant View United Methodist Church in North Vernon; she survives.
Steve was a was a toolmaker and worked for Cummins for 33 years. He enjoyed golfing in Florida and at St. Anne’s, spending his winters in Florida, pitching horseshoes with his buddies, and was very proud of his restoration project on his 1963 Chevy.
Surviving with his wife, Frances, are sons, Chris McIntire of Indianapolis and Jim (Robin) McIntire of Morristown; brother, Stanley McIntire of Biloxi, Mississippi; sister, Claudine Staublin of Columbus; grandchildren, Brandon (Morgan) McIntire of Fort Wayne, Paige McIntire of Indianapolis, and Heath McIntire of Morristown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Larry McIntire.
The family asks that you understand that, due to the circumstances surrounding us at this time, a private family funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in honor of Steve through the funeral home to the Alzheimer’s Association.
