Sylvia Elizabeth Magner, 94, of North Vernon, passed away at 4:43 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at the Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.
Born June 18, 1928, in Lawrence County; she was the devoted daughter of the late Claude and Blanche (Chastain) Ingram. She shared 56 years of marriage with Adrian Glenn Magner. They were married on February 25, 1948, in Orleans; he preceded her in death on May 9, 2004.
Sylvia was a 1946 graduate of Orleans High School in Orange County and was a homemaker and housewife in addition to babysitting for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in North Vernon where she belonged to the Loyal Berean Sunday School Class and the Forever Young Group. Sylvia served as treasurer for both groups. She was a member of the PHI Beta Psi Sorority since May 17, 1948. Sylvia enjoyed reading, working puzzle books, embroidery, quilting, and flowers. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, Michael (Donna) Magner of Nashville, Richard Magner of Cincinnati, Ohio, Robert Magner of Scipio, and Alan (Tammy) Magner of North Vernon; daughters, Shelia Callahan and Lana (Mark) Magner Estes, both of North Vernon; grandchildren, Jason Wilson, Chad Castetter, Missy Taylor, Shane Boswell, Brandon Magner, Colton Magner, Amy Magner, Adrian Magner, Tori Magner, Jordan Magner, Page Magner, Kara Miller, Kelly Rigney, and James Wilson; twenty-one great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and staff and friends at Autumn Trace.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughters, Janet Price and Teresa Buchanan; brother, Donald Ingram; and sister, Bertha Varvel.
The funeral service for Sylvia will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Donald Hadley officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
