Tena Lousie (Ritchie) Turner

Tena Louise Turner, 58, of North Vernon, passed away at 4:55 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at her residence.  

Born November 2, 1963, she was the daughter of Jimmie Ritchie Sr., and the late Carolyn Lucille (Miller) Ritchie. She married Timothy Joseph Turner on December 21, 1991, in Grammer; he preceded her in death on February 8, 2018.

Tena was a graduate of Jennings County High School and worked as a CNA for thirteen years, working at Community Care and Beverly Nursing Home. She also worked for AWS for two years and DSI for one year. She enjoyed cake decorating, gardening, canning, quilting, genealogy, and taking walks by rivers. Tena love spending time with her family and friends and was the “Queen of yard sales.”

Survivors include her son, Adam (Quinnlyn Burgmeier) Turner of North Vernon; daughters, Jackie (Keith Scott) Turner, Tessa (Buddy) Woods, and Destiny (Troy) Petro, all of North Vernon; father, Jimmie (Madilene Campbell) Ritchie Sr. of North Vernon; companion, Thomas Fleener of North Vernon; companion’s children, Matthew Fleener and Erica Burton, both of Anderson; brothers, Jimmie Ritchie Jr. and Kelly (Bonnie) Ritchie, both of North Vernon; sisters, Karen Ritchie and Ronda (Dave) Stocks, both of North Vernon; grandchildren, Tyler Petro, Andrew Petro, Zach Petro, Rylee (Lil Dave) Petro, Ariah Manning, Silas Scott, Skylar Fletcher, Hunter Woods, and Gracie Woods, all of North Vernon; her companion’s grandchildren, Trinity Fleener of Anderson and Jaylen Burton of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother; her husband; son, Joseph Andrew Turner and an infant child; grandparents, John and Lucille Miller and Zebedee and Columbia Ritchie; niece, Rachel McVey; and nephew, Douglas Mitchell III.

A funeral service for Tena will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2022, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Donald Hadley officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
