Thelma Ruth (Heilman) Gellhause

Thelma Ruth Gellhause, 93, of North Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Majestic Health Care in North Vernon.

Born October 12, 1928, in New Market, Indiana, she was the daughter of Carl Heilman Sr. and Elsie (Hunt) Heilman. She married Thomas Marshall Gellhause; he preceded her in death.

Thelma was a home caregiver and a member of Restoration Fellowship Church in North Vernon. She enjoyed shopping, reading and visiting with her family and friends.

Survivors include her son, Dennis Carl (Elena) Gellhouse of Portland, Oregon; her daughter, Phyllis Ruth Gellhouse of North Vernon; brothers, Ralph Heilman and Carl W. Heilman Jr., both of North Vernon; sisters, Betty Emily and Margie Bear, both of North Vernon, Shirley Masingo of Charlestown and Mildred Doogs of Springfield, Ohio; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Phillip Thomas Gellhouse; brother, Paul Heilman; and sisters, Annie Thalacker, Alice Sherfick, Martha Perry and Margaret Caldwell.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Entombment will be in Riverview Cemetery in Seymour. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.
